I was involved i car accident with the other driver taking the blame. My car is damaged and the other drivers insurance company may be contacting me regarding my car. What should I ask them? I am planning to ask about a hire car, who may repair my car or declare it a write off, can I claim for travel expenses whilst without my car and also is it okay to continu cruising my damaged car before it is assessed by them. Is there anything else I should ask?

If your car is fairly new and the damage is extensive you should check if the repairs are to be done to the standard of the NCAP tests which rate new cars for safety. A repaired metal panel will never be as strong as a new panel and I believe you are entitled to be driving a car that is as safe as it was before the accident. There is so much plastic in new cars today that the metal panels are very important in maintaining the car’s integrity
